
ABOUT US

The name, The Local Foreigner, is the profited soul of my two opposing state of minds where belonging and searching become one and the same. As I have spent my childhood on one side of the world, and adulthood on the other, I’ve come to find that whichever continent the plane lands on, there is a part of me that equally feels to be coming home as a local, yet stepping on foreign ground, still yearning for a place to belong to.
It was through yoga that I was able to connect both spirits together, showing just how powerful I could become using all parts of me, the broken and the strong. An anomaly that I am inspired to share.
Through my exploration of practice and learnings, I’ve come to realize that while not everyone may live on opposite sides of the world, many people experience this same type of imbalance. Our world is getting faster; schedules are filling up and pressure is becoming infinite.
It is time that we prioritize self love, spread healing, and honor the relationships with ourselves and others as we strive to succeed in our seemingly inescapable hustle of a modern world.
The Local Foreigner Yoga is here to help you find balance by reconnecting with your local spirit through movement and reflective meditation, while pushing your comfort zones to new, foreign capacities.
Our classes are designed to show you that you are capable of more than you realize when you use every part of yourself to build towards who you want to become.

Dedicating time to slow things down for ourselves allows opportunity for reflection on our thoughts and actions. When we create space to breathe and ask questions such as why we are feeling what we’re feeling, we are able to reset our parasympathetic system and go deeper into understanding how our psyche works. Such communication with ourselves builds the foundation of communication amongst others, thus bettering our relationships around us.

Meditation
Let us tap back into that creative little kid inside! Such creative curiosity in trying new things can lead to a transformative level of confidence. Open your mind to new body movements, new poses, new breathing techniques etc. and lean into the unfamiliar. You might even surprise yourself, proving to that you are capable of much more than the endpoints that you set down. The habit for playful curiosity flows into our everyday confidence to open up to try other things in life, pushing our potential.

Movement is a form of expression that liberates our joints, loosens our overly tense muscles, and activates our neurons, raising our dopamine levels and reseting our nervous system.
Through movement, we help our bodies release stress and gather fresh energy.
